La particule lâkinna vue par un grammairien arabe du XIIIe siècle ou comment une description de détail s'inscrit dans une “théorie pragmatique”

International audienceThis article is intended to be both a textual and methodological contribution to the history of linguistics. Basing our study on Radî l-dîn al-'Astarâbâdhî 's (13th century) ‘pragmatic' description of the particle lâkinna we will show that Radî's interpretation (lâkinna = 'istadraktu, where 'istadraktu is a first person verb) is in fact part of a truly general theory, which is itself pragmatic in nature. As part of this framework his concept of fa‘altu represents the formal manifestation of an object whose conceptual category is 'inshâ' (= “creation'). In conclusion the use of a ‘marked' text as compared with an ‘average' grammar allows us not only to describe the history of Arabic grammatical tradition but also to represent important nuances between groups of grammarians within this tradition or even between individual grammarians.Cet article se veut une double contribution matérielle et méthodologique à une histoire bien comprise de la linguistique. Partant, en 1., de la description, de nature pragmatique, donnée de la particule lâkinna par le grammairien Radî l-dîn al-'Astarâbâdhî (XIIIe siècle), nous montrons en 2 que, par le biais de l'interprétation qu'en propose ce grammairien (lâkinna = 'istadraktu, où 'istadraktu est un verbe à la lère personne), elle s'inscrit en fait dans le cadre d'une véritable théorie générale, elle-même de nature pragmatique, où fa‘altu représente la formalisation d'un objet dont la catégorie de 'inshâ' (= “création”) constitue la conceptualisation. En 3, enfin, nous montrons que l'utilisation d'un texte ‘marqué' par rapport à la grammaire arabe ‘moyenne' permet non seulement de faire l'histoire de celle-ci, mais encore de représenter des nuances importantes entre groupes de grammairiens, voire d'un grammairien à l'autre
